![]() In 1957 he graduated from Edgartown High School as the Valedictorian of his class. He also worked at the A&P store starting in 1955. He played basketball for the high school, he performed in school plays, he hunted, and fished and worked on the farm. In that moment he decided that he would not just lead a normal life, but an exceptional one.įrank returned to the Island and school in January 1950. He will be incapable of ever leading a normal life.” Frank remembered those exact words for the rest of his days. “This patient” the doctor said “will likely survive. ![]() The doctor spoke about Frank as if he wasn’t even there. His most vivid memory of this time was lying on a table staring up at blindingly bright lights while a physician lectured an auditorium of medical students surrounding him. Diagnosed with Polio, he was sent to Boston for treatment for nearly 4 months. September 1, 1949, proved to be a critical moment in Frank’s life. A lifelong subscriber to the Vineyard Gazette, he also relied on his best friends Alfred Perry, Jeffrey Norton and Dickie Brown to ascertain the story behind the story. Despite living most of his adult life in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, California and Georgia, the Island always remained his true home. Despite the hard work required growing up on a farm, or perhaps because of it, Frank greatly cherished his youth on the Island. He grew up on Dairlyland Farm, which became the Martha’s Vineyard Cooperative Dairy in 1946 which his father managed. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Lydia, Ben, Aeneas and Korey Perry and numerous nieces and nephews.įrank was born in October 1938 in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard. ![]() He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Eleanor Perry (McGaughey), his brother Alfred Perry and his wife Cookie Perry (Gazaille), his children Elizabeth Perry, Michael Perry and his wife Erin Perry (Womeldorf), Sean Perry and his wife Mara Perry (Veverbrants). Perry, Sr and Valentina Perry (Mello) and son-in-law John T. Frank was predeceased by his parents Frank J. aged 83, passed away on Jin Dover, NH after a lengthy and hard fought battle against multiple ailments.
