In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to enable DNS over HTTPS in Firefox on Windows 10. The DNS over HTTPS uses the Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) protocol to encrypt the communication to improve security and privacy minimizing attacks and preventing malicious individuals from snooping. ![]() However, these queries are transmitted over the internet in plain text, which is not secure. Webkit might be good at rendering pages but it's not a very good implementation, although I don't exactly like Konqueror either.Firefox supports “DNS over HTTPS (DoH),” and these are the steps to enable it to boost security and privacy while browsing the web.ĭomain Name System (DNS) is the protocol responsible for translating friendly internet domain names into IP addresses that computers can understand to find and load websites on your browser. I've tried and failed to get sites working properly with IE6/7, I'm sure I'm not the only person here.Īnything is better than that pathetic excuse of a browser called Safari though. Ultimately, IE isn't very standards compliant and many webmasters have to resort to bad coding practice to get their sites working properly with IE, especially IE6 and below. I know Fasterfox with forced prefetching enabled is frowned upon although any prefetching ultimately (while standards compliant) isn't all that great for websites. It's bad particularly for smaller websites because they tend to have limited bandwidth and by predownloading web pages it causes their bandwidth to be used up. Generally, unless I have a stupid (+20) tabs open, Firefox only uses excessive levels of RAM if a flash video is loading, this is Linux anyway.īy the way Eva, page prefetching is bad. I'm sure Opera is a brilliant browser but I've never quite got into it partly for its lack of extensibility and partly because of its interface (although mouse gestures are great and so is the forward/backward using the two mouse buttons). Memory usage above about 100MB is ridiculous for a web browser (and I have 2GB of RAM), fortunately FF3 has fixed that. Last edited by Banshee on Fri 2:50 am edited 2 times in total We'll look up for a fix for it in a later time. ![]() In a quick note, the site also loads well on Opera 9.50, except for the news which wasn't supposed to be centralized. It is highly recommended for those who use Internet Explorer of any kind: There are some minor improvements on the interface as well and it is more compatible with W3C standards than older versions. ![]() The old Firefox used more than 300mb at these conditions, so I'm quite satisfied. In my computer, it is using 206mb of RAM plus some virtual memory, with 31 tabs and 8 extensions. This version of Firefox loads much faster and use less RAM. In overall, all C&C sites I've visited had no problems whatsoever with Firefox 3. Some other sites did not had the same luck, such as Hotmail (the full mode), which refuses to work, so I'm always forced to use the classic mode. I've downloaded Firefox 3 on this tuesday and I'm glad that this site is running perfectly on it, without any need to touch it. Attach signature (signatures can be changed in profile)
